Young Carers Festival June 2008 - We help 1700 Young Carers to have a great weekend

The event is organised by the YMCA and the Children's Society to provide a short break for young carers from all over the country. This year over 1700 young carers and volunteers came from 70 Young Cares Projects throughout the UK, Isle of Man. Hamble Valley Rotary Club provided volunteers to staff the on site Coffee Shop. The Coffee Shop is the central meeting point for the Young Carers where they could buy hot drinks, burgers, hotdogs and the very popular `bacon bap'. Rotarians provided over 300 hours of service during the 34 hours the Coffee Shop was open.(6am to midnight all weekend). The Hamble Valley Inner Wheel also provided assistance in the Coffee Shop.

"Christmas Carol Float Collections 2007" - Once again we had a very successful time taking our Carol Float around the streets of Botley, Hedge End and West End. For details of the funds raised on each night click here.

"Christmas Shoe Boxes" - We collected a total of 364 shoe boxes this year, a little better than last year. The total number collected by our District was 26,195, also slightly up on last year. 3,000 have been sent to Arusha in Tanzania, 14,000 to Montenegro (all areas) and 9,000 to Albania (Lehze in the north and Librazhd in the central hills).

"Sailability"   We reached our target to raise over £12,000 to support "Sailability". These funds now allow us to put in the required launching facilities and purchase two specially equipped dinghys to provide sailing for the disabled at Fairthorne Manor YMCA center on the River Hamble.

"The Jaipur Limb Centres in India" We are continuing to support this successful project. For more information on Jaipur Limb, please visit their website, www.rotaryjaipurlimb.co.uk.
