The Wildern School, Hedge End has again raised money for
the shelter box scheme. They have raised over £1200 which we
will add to other money raised by Hamble Valley and
we will then be able to purchase another 5
shelter boxes.
The Freegrounds Infant School, Hedge End had previously raised
£1500 for 3 shelter boxes, The Wildern School, had previously helped to buy 1 shelterbox and the
Swanmore College of Technology raised £2450 for 5 Shelter Boxes.

The Geoff Holt Open Day
and Dinner - March 8th
|
|
This was one of the most successful events ever staged by Hamble Valley Rotary
Club. An amazing afternoon of talks by Geoff, his wife and his crew and also by Keith
Harris, a man who is so disabled that he can only sail by operating the electronic
controls of his Access dinghy by using his tounge.
In the evening a dinner was held at the Botleigh Grange Hotel with 242 people
present. Both Geoff and Keith spoke leaving the audiance both inspired and humbled by
the achievements of the disabled sailors. The aim of the event was to raise enough
money for RYA Sailability to be able to purchase another Access dinghy at a cost of
about £3500 and this was achieved with some to spare. RYA Sailability, is a charity
for the disabled sailing division of the Royal Yachting Association.
To learn more
about these incredible sailors, please visit Geoff's own website at
