Our Shelter Box Appeal
Continued Support from Local Schools

The Wildern School, Hedge End has again raised money for the shelter box scheme. They have raised over £1200 which we will add to other money raised by Hamble Valley and we will then be able to purchase another 5 shelter boxes.

The Freegrounds Infant School, Hedge End had previously raised £1500 for 3 shelter boxes, The Wildern School, had previously helped to buy 1 shelterbox and the Swanmore College of Technology raised £2450 for 5 Shelter Boxes.

10 Sleeping Bags.   A Dry Shelter.   A Warm Bed.   Light & Heat.   Clean Water.   Cooking Aids.   Tools.   And much more-
All for 10 People .... in a box.

The "Paddle up the Hamble "

The paddle on the 21st June was a great success. 60 paddlers of all ages in a variety of boats took part and had a great time , helping to raise £300 for the "Water Aid"scheme. To visit the Water Aid web site - click here.

The Geoff Holt Open Day and Dinner - March 8th

This was one of the most successful events ever staged by Hamble Valley Rotary Club. An amazing afternoon of talks by Geoff, his wife and his crew and also by Keith Harris, a man who is so disabled that he can only sail by operating the electronic controls of his Access dinghy by using his tounge.
In the evening a dinner was held at the Botleigh Grange Hotel with 242 people present. Both Geoff and Keith spoke leaving the audiance both inspired and humbled by the achievements of the disabled sailors. The aim of the event was to raise enough money for RYA Sailability to be able to purchase another Access dinghy at a cost of about £3500 and this was achieved with some to spare. RYA Sailability, is a charity for the disabled sailing division of the Royal Yachting Association.

The Rotary Jaipur Limb Project
We will continue to support this project this year as we have in the past. The Jaipur limb is a hard-wearing artificial limb and will last for three or four years at a cost of about £25.
